Three Pakistani soldiers were killed on Tuesday as Indian forces retaliated to ceasefire violations from across the border, hours after seven civilians were killed and 20 others injured in cross-border firing in Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier on Tuesday, two young boys and a teenage girl were among seven civilians killed on the Indian side when Pakistani troops violated ceasefire by shelling border hamlets and posts with mortar bombs along the Ramgarh sector at Samba district in Jammu and Kashmir.
The rise in death toll prompted the authorities to shift the villagers out of the area.
Later on Tuesday, Home Minister Rajnath Singh reviewed the border situation at a meeting attended by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Army chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag and other top officials.
