Three men who were installing a banner to celebrate Kannada film actor Yash’s birthday were electrocuted to death in Karnataka’s Gadag, in the early hours of Monday.
The accident took place in Gadag district’s Suranagi village at around 1 am and the deceased have been identified as 24-year-old Hanumanth Harijan, 24, Murali Naduvinamani (20) and Naveen Gaaji (20).
As the banner came in contact with electric wire, three fans were electrocuted and three others who tried to save the men suffered injuries.
Three others were also injured due to the accident and were further shifted to the district hospital for treatment.
As per an Indian Express report, Gadag Superintendent of Police, Babasaheb Nemagouda, said, “While putting up the banner, three of them were electrocuted and three were injured. The banner had a metal frame which was in touch with a HESCOM wire. A case has been registered at Lakshmeshwar Police Station. We will investigate this”.
Shirhatti MLA, Chandru Lamani, who visited the spot requested the public not to erect any metallic frame banners. He also requested Yash to visit the families of the deceased, the Indian Express report quoted.
Karnataka Chief Minister has announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.

Over the years, the actor has captured his fans’ hearts with his gripping performances.The actor, who has achieved pan-India fame after his KGF franchise, had a traditional custom of celebrating his birthday with his fans since the last few years. This year, the Kannada actor has written a letter to his fans saying that he will be away on his birthday as he will be travelling abroad for the shooting schedule of his upcoming movie ‘Toxic’.
