Tests by the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewage Board have shown that the drinking water at Bharatinagar in the city has been contaminated with sewage.
Water supply to the affected areas has been stopped but now, a cholera threat is also looming large over the city with isolated cases having been reported so far.
Officials, however, say fears of a cholera outbreak are unfounded.
