The Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh) is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. The temple is situated on the side of the holy river Shipra. The presiding deity, Shiva in the lingam form, is believed to be Swayambhu, deriving currents of power (Shakti) from within itself as against the other images and lingams that are ritually established and invested with mantra-shakti. Do you know there is another Shiva temple that resembles Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar Temple? The name of the temple is Nagalamma Temple and is located in Palamaner town of Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh. This temple has become very popular as the number of devotees increased in a very short period of time. Every Tuesday and Friday, pujas are performed in this temple. There is also a mound next to this temple. A member of the temple shared that whenever the devotees perform pujas at this shrine, at some point the snake catches the eye of the devotees. Many deity trees have also been arranged at the back of the temple. People suffering from planetary problems perform puja and pradakshas to these trees.

Woman suffering from a fertility problem visits Nagalamma temple to perform puja. The residents of the surrounding area believe that one can definitely conceive a child after this. With this belief, women from Andhra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu visit this temple more every Tuesday and Friday.

Devotees say that the goddess here is known as the wishful Kalpavalli. A Shivalinga has been installed next to the Nagalamma temple to resemble the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain. Devotees praised that it is very special to be next to Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple and Shiva Temple.

That is why the devotees believe that what they wish for at this temple will be fulfilled. The idol of Lord Shiva has been installed at a height of about 40 feet so that the families living in the villages can see it all the time.
