BANGALORE: It was with commitment to change the way people look at ageing in India, that Dignity Foundation was started. Enabling the members to lead active lives through easy access to trusted information, opportunities for productive ageing and social support services, the NGO works towards lending a helping hand to the ageing in the society.In 1995 the activities of the Foundation were started with the publication of the magazine Dignity Dialogue. From there it bloomed into a service delivery organisation as a response to the interest shown by the senior citizens themselves.They recently concluded the Retirement Expo in the city, which enabled senior citizens find avenues for keeping themselves occupied. Says Dr Sheilu Sreenivasan, founder president of Dignity Foundation, “The plan was to deliver action-packed space for show-casing products, ser­­vices and interactive exhibits of everything that is related to lifestyle segments for senior citizens.”The five petals of Dignity Foundation’s logo stand for their five-pronged initiative — community services, life enrichment, knowledge sharing, shelter and advocacy.With headquarters in Mumbai, Dignity Foundation has branches throughout the country including Bangalore.
