Bombay: Abdul Karim Telgi, the main accused in the multi-crore stamp-paper scam, is accusing the CBI of foul-play.
His lawyer claims the CDs handed over to them by the CBI, which carry conversations between Telgi and his associates, are not working.
"Why did not they give transcripts at the time of giving CDs and they have given CDs that do not play at all, they should have given the transcripts as per law," says Telgi’s lawyer, Harshad Nimbalkar.
The Karnataka Police had recorded Telgi's conversations with his accomplices and converted them into 14 CDs.
There's speculation that the CDs could expose many big names involved in the multi-crore scam.
The Bombay High Court had asked the CBI to give all the accused copies of the CDs. The CBI however had given just eight CDs.
After the High Court's second call, the CBI handed over three other CDs on Saturday.
For Telgi's lawyer, the next step is to file an application in the court seeking replacement of CDs.
