HYDERABAD: With Speaker Nadendla Manohar rejecting their resignations, the TRS and TDP Telangana legislators on Sunday decided to resign afresh but their Congress counterparts, after going into a huddle, deferred a decision on the same. The Telangana Congress MLAs, who met at the residence of Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy, are likely to take a call on Monday. The steering committee of the Telangana Congress public representatives will meet Monday in Delhi before holding talks with incharge of party affairs in State Ghulam Nabi Azad. In all likelihood, the MLAs may hand over their resignations to Jana Reddy who will place them before Azad and seek his advice. The MLAs are averse to knocking on the doors of the Speaker again as they are unwilling to offend the party leadership for the second time. The two hour-long meeting is understood to have discussed various suggestions, including a statement from the party, to be presented before Azad. The Congress leaders also mulled the option of asking T ministers to meet the Governor with their resignations. Jana Reddy is seeking the ministers’ opinion in this regard before discussing it at the steering committee meeting. The meeting was attended by ministers Basavaraju Saraiah and J Geeta Reddy, MPs Gutta Sukhender Reddy, G Vivek, Manda Jagannadham, Madhu Yashki, MLAs Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy, T Rajaiah, Bikshamaiah Goud, Pratap Reddy and Jupalli Krishna Rao. The number of Congress leaders who will meet Azad will be limited to 12. They will be led by steering committee chairpersons Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao and Jana Reddy. The leaders, after the meeting, were understandably tight-lipped. Said Madhu Yashki: “There is no need to doubt the sincerity of the T Congress leaders. Consultations are the only way for a T state”.Meanwhile, obviously to steal a march over the Congress leaders, the TDP Telangana Forum made it clear that its members would resign again. TDTF leader Dayakar Rao said, “We have decided to resign again. There is no deviation from our stand. The Speaker’s action of rejecting the resignations is unilateral. He should be removed from the post.” Rebel Telangana TDP leaders are, meanwhile, contemplating to move the Supreme Court for a direction to the Speaker to accept their resignations. Three rebel MLAs - K Harishwar Reddy, J Ramanna and S Venuogapola Chary - faxed their resignations to the Speaker’s office while Nagam Janardhan Reddy said he was examining the possibility of moving the apex court. The TRS too is keen on not letting either the TDP or the Congress steal the limelight. Party leader KT Rama Rao said, “We will resign again. The Congress MLAs too should demonstrate their commitment by resigning. The ministers should meet the Governor and get their resignations accepted.”
