New Delhi: As the world celebrated international women's day on Sunday, women in Pakistan's North Western Frontier Province continued with their battle for identities.
The Tehrik-e Taliban has asked authorities in the Khyber Agency not to issue national identity cards to women.
The commander of the terror outfit has said issuing ID cards is un-Islamic. He said government offices will be attacked if the distribution of ID cards to women continues.
Women were also threatened with dire consequences if they went for registration. It was unclear as to what decision was taken by the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA).
Women too have been warned against going to NADRA offices for registration or brace themselves for whatever consequences befall them.
