Peshawar: Taliban fighters gunned down four men for allegedly spying for "Indian and Jewish intelligence agencies" and dumped their bodies in northwest Pakistan on Saturday, police said.
The bullet-riddled bodies were found along with notes from the militants near Karak, a town in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province located close to the lawless North Waziristan tribal region.
Pir Muslim Shah, the chief of Karak police station, told PTI the notes stated that the men were killed for allegedly spying for India and Jewish intelligence agencies.
The bodies were dumped near Nori Panos road and were found by a police patrol.
After an autopsy at the district headquarters hospital, the bodies were buried by police in the local graveyard, Shah said.
The appearance of the dead men suggested they belonged to Waziristan, officials said. They were aged between 20 and 40 years.
The Taliban frequently kidnap and kill tribesmen after accusing them of spying for US troops in neighbouring Afghanistan.
This was probably the first instance of tribesmen being executed by the militants on charges of spying for India.
