HYDERABAD: Brand new furniture, computers, records and kitchen material worth lakhs of rupees was reduced to ashes in a major fire at a private outlet in Kondapur in the wee hours of Sunday. No causalities were reported as the fire mishap occurred around 3 a.m.
According to AP fire service department officials, it was a major fire and valuable records and almost everything in the Reliance Fresh supermarket completely gutted. The firefighters battled with flames for almost six hours to bring the fire under control. Around 6.15 a.m on Sunday, a few locals noticed smoke emanating from the Reliance Fresh supermarket located on the first floor of the fourstoreyed MV Plaza in Kondapur. Initially, locals informed Madhapur police under whose jurisdiction the area comes. "We received the information around 6.20 a.m from the police control room. As soon as we received information, fire tenders were pressed into service. Since it is a fourstoreyed building, the firefighting operation was a bit difficult initially but it was eventually controlled,' said Filmnagar station fire officer Mohan Rao. The fire tenders were initially rushed from Film Nagar and Punjagutta. Later, more fire tenders were rushed from Gachibowli and Madhapur while 10 more water tankers from the GHMC were pressed into service.
