CHENNAI: The Home Secretary and the Puzhal Prison II Superintendent have been directed by the Madras High Court to subject the three Nigerians, who were allegedly assaulted by the prison warders, for medical examination by a team of doctors of Government Royapettah Hospital on March 17.A division bench comprising Justice K Mohan Ram and Justice GM Akbar Ali, which gave the direction on Friday while entertaining a habeas corpus writ petition from advocate P Pugalenthi, also directed the hospital Resident Medical Officer (RMO) to examine the trio and provide them treatment either as in-patients or out-patients and submit a report to the government, which should, in turn, forward the same to the court on March 20.
