Mumbai: Thursday is World AIDS day and Bollywood stars are already pitching in for the cause.

Actor Ayesha Takia and singer Rageshwari visited JJ Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday to pep up HIV positive patients.

The hospital was also celebrating the success of the Anti-retroviral Therapy Centre which was launched last year.

The HIV patients sat with rapt attention in the Anatomy lecture hall in the hospital as Rageshwari performed for them.

"Most important thing is to spread awareness and I would like to support a cause like this," actor Ayesha Takia said.

"All I had to do was come and sing a song, so I'll keep coming and will continue to support the cause," Rageshwari said.

For the patients and the hospital staff the celebrity presence definitely made a difference as Prof Alka Deshpande, HOD, ART Centre, JJ Hospital said "It adds glamour and creates awareness".

As candles were lit, the medical students, doctors and patients made a solemn pledge?to prevent AIDS and, to keep that promise, which incidentally is this years theme for the big day.

What's your reaction?
