Sri Lankan military says it has killed around 30 rebels belonging to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.
New Delhi: The Sri Lankan military on Monday said that it has killed around 30 rebels belonging to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
The Army also claims to have captured a rebel bunker line in Thoppigala, in the east of the island.
The clash took place hours after the Sri Lankan Navy said it had destroyed five LTTE vessels, having coming under attack from two dozen rebel boats on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, neither the LTTE leaders, nor the military has not commented on the clashes yet.
The land battle and clash at sea off Point Pedro in the northern Army-held Jaffna peninsula are the latest in a string of land and sea battles and air strikes in recent months.
