TIRUVANNAMALAI: A 19-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison.Ilaiyarasi (name changed) of Ayyankarkulam near Cheyyar in Tiruvannamalai, was found unconscious near a temple and was rushed to the Kancheepuram GH, where she died later.Ilaiyarasi’s father, an ex-serviceman, told police that he suspected involvement of Ganeshkumar (24) of Vellankulam. When police questioned him, Ganeshkumar admitted that he had threatened the girl several times for spurning him.The girl was depressed because of the frequent threats and ended her life.Man threatens suicideTension prevailed at Tirupattur GH in Vellore, when Sabapathi (28), tried to set himself ablaze along with his three children demanding proper treatment to his wife on Sunday.His wife Poongodi was admitted to the hospital on September 30 due to vomitting and giddiness and was not given proper treatment. The doctors later promised to treat his wife.Liquor seized, 3 heldThe Prohibition Enforcement Wing raided some houses in Walajah, Vellore and seized 103 liquor bottles and Rs 20,000 in cash from bootleggers, after a tip-off that liquor bottles were hidden in some houses.They arrested Ramesh (40), Ilango (35) and Manohar (42) for hiding around 35 liquor bottles in their houses to sell to customers. Arcot police arrested Mani (58), a shop owner for selling liquor bottles without a license.
