New Delhi: Sony has finally announced the launch of the much-anticipated Xperia Z1 smartphone. The phone has a 5-inch full HD display. It has Sony's G Lens with a 27mm wide angle and bright F2.0 aperture, custom made large 1/2.3-type 20.7 megapixel Exmor RS CMOS image sensor.
Running Android 4.2, the Xperia Z1 has a flash memory of 16 GB of flash memory. It also includes an expansion slot that supports a microSD card up to 64 GB. The phone has 2GB RAM.
This waterproof and dust-resistant smartphone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 processor with 2.2 GHz quad-core CPU and features 4G LTE. The Xperia Z1 also includes a 3000 mAh battery. Sony claims that its Battery Stamina Mode automatically turns off functions to save power when you don't need them and restarts them when you do.
Sony says that the Xperia Z1 integrates PlayMemories Online, a cloud-based image and video service that is integrated into the Album application. A new "All Sync" feature enables users to auto-upload all of their photos without storage limitation.
Alongside the Xperia Z1 launch, Sony also announced the lens-style cameras - QX10 and QX 100 - designed for mounting on smartphones and operated through the smartphone screen. The QX 10 and QX 100 are compatible with Android and iOS smarphones.
The phone will be available in black, white and purple colour variants. It will be available globally from September 2013.
