HYDERABAD: The Central government has sanctioned Rs 180 crore for six more districts of Andhra Pradesh under the Integrated Action Plan (IAP).Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, Warangal, Karimnagar, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram have been included under the IAP and Rs 180 crore (Rs 30 cr for each district) would be released in a phased manner, member secretary of the Planning Commission Sudha Pillai informed in a message to the chief secretary.It may be recalled that Khammam and Adilabad districts have already been included under the IAP.Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy took up the issue with the Centre during the chief ministers’ conference held recently in Delhi.He also met the Union home minister P Chidambaram and requested him to include these six districts under the IAP.Under the scheme various developmental activities would be taken up in these districts.Laying of roads, construction of school buildings, hostels, Anganwadi centres, hospitals, rural electrification and other works would be taken up.The scheme is already being implemented in Khammam and Adilabad districts.Road works to the tune of `1,000 crore have been taken up under the scheme with the Central assistance.The main objective of the scheme is to wean away the unemployed youth and downtrodden from being attracted to extremist ideology.The programme has already proved to be a success in those districts where it is being implemented
