The Supreme Court has asked the Centre that why can't CBI members be considered for Lokpal.
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday issued a notice to the Central government over the issue of Lokpal's appointment. The court issued the notice after a PIL challenged the Lokpal appointment rule which favours appointment of secretaries to Government of India as members of Lokpal.
The Supreme Court has asked the Centre that why can't CBI members be considered for Lokpal. The court said, "Suppose if a CBI joint director or director is engaged in dealing with anti-corruption policies all his career, will he be eliminated as a member of Lokpal?"
The Centre has been given 4 weeks to reply to the notice.
