CHENNAI: Exactly 100 days after her exit from the Poes Garden residence of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, V K Sasikala, the estranged friend of the AIADMK supremo, on Wednesday announced that she had cut off all ties with her family and friends who had betrayed akka (Jayalalithaa) and expressed her desire to be the true sister of Jayalalithaa for the rest of her life.“Ever since I met akka in 1984, I have never betrayed her... even in my dreams. My relatives and friends, who have acted against akka, are my adversaries too. I have cut off all ties with them,” Sasikala said in a two-page statement here.Stating that she was forced to issue this statement since there have been many reports about her during the past three months, Sasikala said: “As far as I am concerned, I don’t have even an iota of desire to engage myself in politics, acquire a big position in the party, become an MP or MLA, or take part in the government. In a nutshell, I have no desire to be in public life at all.”“I wish to be the true sister of akka. I have already dedicated my life for the sake of akka. In the coming days too, I wish to be helpful to akka by serving her to the extent I can,” she said in an emotionally-worded statement.Sasikala said she had met Jayalalithaa for the first time in 1984 and in due course, the friendship with her grew. Later, Jayalalithaa accepted her as her sister. Since 1988, she has been residing with her in the Poes Garden residence. “When Jayalalithaa was working hard as the chief minister of the State and as the general secretary of the AIADMK, I tried to help her in reducing her burden to the extent possible. Apart from that, I had no other intention,” she added.Sasikala pleaded ignorance about what was happening outside Poes Garden and only after starting to live away, after a gap of 24 years, did she come to know the full truth. She also understood the reason for the disciplinary action taken by akka in December last.“Some of my relatives and friends, misusing my name and association with akka, engaged in some unwanted acts. Such acts had affected the party and created many confusions besides bringing a bad name to the AIADMK. Above all, I was shocked and pained to know that conspiracies were hatched against akka. And, the fact is that all this happened without my knowledge,” Sasikala said.
