Janhvi Kapoor BREAKS Silence on Why Dostana 2 Was Shelved: 'Kartik Aaryan, Karan Johar Ke Beech...'

Janhvi Kapoor has finally spoken out about why her film Dostana 2 was shelved abruptly. Janhvi was to star alongside Kartik Aaryan and Laksh Lalwani in Karan Johar production Dostana 2. However, in 2021, rumours about Kartik’s “unprofessional” behaviour upsetting Karan had emerged online and it was said that the actor was no longer a part of the now-shelved movie. Later, Dharma Productions had issued an official statement, saying that “we will be recasting Dostana 2.”

Now, Janhvi has broken her silence on exactly what transpired during the shoot of Dostana 2. “I don’t know either. We had shot for that film for about 30 to 35 days. The shoot was going very well according to me. I don’t know why the film was shelved,” the actress told The Lallantop.

She continued, “We began shooting for that film long before Covid. And then Covid happened and there was a delay of over one-and-a-half years. Then people felt that to restart the film… I don’t know.”

When asked if she didn’t want to say that all was not well between Kartik and Karan, Janhvi said, “I don’t think it was that. I think work is extremely important for both of them. But unke beech kya hua kya nahi hua, you should ask them about it.”

In 2022, Kartik had also spoken out about his exit from the film. In an interview with Indian Express, Kartik talked about his reported fallout with Karan. He said, “I just focus on my work. That’s all I would like to say on this. Look at my (film) line-up (right now).”

He continued, “What happens, at times, is people make ‘baat ka batangad’. There is nothing more to it. No one has so much time. Everybody just wants to work, do good work. Other than that, things are just rumours.”

In November last year, Karan decided to officially bury the hatchet with Kartik by announcing a movie on the actor’s 33rd birthday. The film will be co-produced by Ekta Kapoor.
