Kolkata: Suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh on Sunday was remanded to five days police custody by Bidannagar court in the Saradha chit fund scam. Ghosh was arrested on Saturday and is accused of being a part of the conspiracy with Saradha group chairman Sudipto Sen.
The police claimed that the evidence indicates that Kunal Ghosh was involved in the conspiracy and was charged with cheating, criminal breach of trust and criminal conspiracy.
Arnab Ghosh, Deputy Commissioner of Detective Department, said, "We have secured the arrest of Kunal Ghosh and is presently in our custody. Ghosh was also a party of the conspiracy along with Sudipta Sen and others."
Ghosh who has already been interrogated more than 10 times claimed he is a scapegoat. The rebel leaders said the real beneficiaries of the Saradha scam within the Trinamool Congress have been protected. He was suspended from the party for anti-party activities in September this year.
TMC leader Derek O Brien said, "Whatever Kunal Ghosh tells, I do not need to react to because at this present moment he's not a party leader."
