Bangalore: India's Sania Mirza crashed out of the singles event of the $175,000 Bangalore Open as she lost to Camille Pin of France 6-1 5-7 2-6 in the second round.

Sania, however, advanced to the doubles quarter-finals, pairing Liezel Huber (South Africa). The duo beat Tzipora Obziler (Israel)/Angelique Widjaja (Thailand) 6-4, 6-4 in the first round.

"It was a very different kind of a match; I don't remember the last time I played a match like that," Sania said after the second round defeat.

"Sometimes, you don't play the way you want to play. Some days, the other person does not play the way you want them to play," the Hyderabadi girl said.

"To be honest, I don't know what I should have done differently. I really don't know what else I could have done," she said. "Hats off to her (Pin). She played a great match."

Sania strained her elbow during the match, but said only 'high balls' hurt her, while she was hitting forehands and backhands without any pain.

Pin said she tried to do something different after being down 1-6 3-5 and succeeded in it.

"To make her go down, I am glad," added the Frenchwoman, who said she was surprised that Sania did not try to change her strategy when she (Pin) held the upper hand in the final

set.
