New Delhi: The Government has revoked the passport of Harish Kumar Dogra, who was removed as India’s High Commissioner to New Zealand in April.
The Government has also revoked the passports of Dogra’s wife, Neeta, and their domestic help and sent a note verbale to the New Zealand government.
The government had told Wellington that it would issue travel documents to Dogra and his family to enable them to return home. The Dogras have been without visas after their 10-day permit expired on May 4.
Sources said the Dogras had applied for a normal visa, which would have given them a grace period of 40 days in the country.
Dogra was posted in Wellington two years ago and was recalled in the beginning of March 2006 after charges of human trafficking were made against him.
He refused to obey the recall order and wrote a letter to Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran, accusing him of impropriety. Dogra asked Saran to prove the charges or resign.
