Going off the beaten track for pressing their demand for early implementation of the Sachar Committee report, members of the Bharatiya Muslim Mahila Andolan (BMMA) offered prayers and flowers at various dargahs in Khurda, Bhadrak and Cuttack districts through the week.

The prayers were offered seeking divine intervention to stir the Government into action and implement the recommendations of the Sachar Committee which, according to them, are still lying in cold storage.

This was as part of the week-long activity of BMMA’s National Campaign on Sachar Report. Even five years after the Sachar Committee Report revealed that the Muslims were one of the most economically backward and socially disadvantaged  community, nothing much has been done to address their needs.

After having made repeated requests to the Government, staging  dharnas and waiting  for so long, BMMA members decided to seek the help of the Almighty, Farhat Amin, a member of the Central working Committee and State convenor of BMMA, said.
