BHUBANESWAR: In a surprise development, Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda has appealed to the people to support the Bharat Bandh on May 31 against the price rise of petrol. In a fresh audio tape released on Tuesday, the Maoist leader has criticised the Centre for the steepest hike in petrol price and demanded its immediate withdrawal.Blasting the State Government and Home Secretary UN Behera for allegedly spreading wrong information, Panda, the secretary of Odisha State Organising Committee of the CPI (Maoist), criticised the State Government for reneging on promises made at the time of negotiations for the release of abducted Italian nationals.Referring to the audio tape released by Nikhil, the secretary of the Bansdhara Divisional Committee (BDC), Sabyasachi said that it was the handiwork of Odisha police. The BDC had admitted that it had carried out the death sentence of the husband of Hanumantpur Sarpanch on the midnight of May 22.Nikhil had contradicted the statement of Sabyasachi that the Maoist had nothing to do with the murder. The statement that Sabyasachi had issued to the media claiming our party has nothing to do with this murder is incorrect, Nikhil said.
