SABARIMALA: The Sabarimala Infrastructure Trust has decided to launch a Rs 150-crore fund mobilisation campaign to implement the projects shortlisted by the High-power Committee on Sabarimala Infrastructure Development.Talking to the Express, Additional Chief Secretary and chairman of the High-power Committee K Jayakumar said that the decision to mobilise the funds was taken at a meeting held at Nedumbassery in Ernakulam the other day chaired by T K A Nair and Supreme Court former judge Justice Arijit Pasayat, the patrons of the Trust.“P N C Menon of Bangalore-based Sobha Developers and G M Rao of the GMR Group were among the Trust members who participated in the meeting,” Jayakumar said. He said that as part of the fund mobilisation drive, the Trust would organise presentations in Malaysia and Gulf countries, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Oman.“P N C Menon agreed to arrange the presentation materials, including video clippings and brochures,” he said.Jayakumar said that the Trust would arrange meetings with business groups and sponsors who would like to donate funds for undertaking projects for providing facilities for the pilgrims in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai.Bank Consortium Planned to Accept Donations Jayakumar said that the Trust meet decided to form a consortium of six banks to collect funds donated by business groups and individuals.“The Trust would launch the drive in the forthcoming pilgrimage season so that funds collected could be used for the projects which were already shortlisted for launch immediately after the next festival season,” he said.“An office of the Trust would be opened in Sabarimala for the purpose,” he said. Jayakumar said that the projects that would get priority for implementation include the new prasadam complex, Kunnar water storage capacity augmentation, setting up of free food zone, project for a clean environment at Sannidhanam and Pampa and Nilackal pilgrim transit facility.
