New Delhi: Ranvir Sena, a militia of the upper-class landlords whose members were abducted by the Naxals on Sunday, has issued a press release threatening to avenge the killing of its cadres.
On Tuesday Ranvir Sena supporters and took to the streets in various parts of the state, accusing the state administration of patronising the underground naxalites.
"We will retaliate and the killing of our people will be avenged suitably... We will expose the District Magistrate and the administration," the release said.
On Sunday night, the Maoist attackers has stormed the Jehanabad district jail to free their comrades. They also shot dead a Ranvir Sena leader and took 40 others hostage.
Nine of the Sena members were found dead on Monday, two of the dead were identified as Sena leaders Bade Sharma and Vishveshkar Rai.
The Sena has now demanded that the Maoists release their men immediately or face retaliation.
The CPI (Maoist) attackers have also issued a press statement, saying the abducted Ranvir Sena men will be tried in "people's court and suitably punished for their crimes".
"Our movement against the feudal armies will continue as long as justice is not not done to the oppressed," the statement issued by the Special Area Committee, Magadh region, of the Naxals said.
Meanwhile, 36 hours after the attack, not a single person has been arrested.
Experts say that there is need for a single countrywide policy to deal with Naxalite terror throughout the country, but not much is being done to deal with the terror attack in Jehanabad.
Home Ministry officials in Delhi say they will only provide minimal support like air surveillance as back up to the state police. With Manmohan Singh and Shivraj Patil missing from the scene, it is evident that the government is treating Jehanabad as an isolated incident.
