Around 40,000 Alstromerian lilies and a 7.5 feet tall floral hut on a eight feet tree trunk will be the main attractions of the annual flower show at the Lalbagh Botanical Gardens, beginning on Thursday (August 9) as part of the Independence Day celebrations.

Animal floral replicas including Dinosaurs, Pandas and Ducks will be displayed which will be decorated on Alstromerian lilies and 32,000 carnation flowers. This floral edifice are being created to convey the message of deforestation, security to wild animals and major threats to nature.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Director of horticulture department S V Hittalamani said that more than 200 varieties of annual flowers including Orchids, Antirrhinums, Vinca, Bougainvillea, Impatiens, Lilly, Aga pantha, cyclamen and many more will be displayed.

The flower show will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar at  a colourful function.
