Mumbai: Actor Ranbir Kapoor is disappointed that the film 'Barfi', which won him all-round accolades, failed to bag national awards in any category.
However, the actor has vowed to get over the disappointment and work hard next time for the award. "When we started working on 'Barfi', we never expected that it will win awards....but it did. We are happy with the love that we got from the audience. The film also went to the Oscars ...we were quite excited. Next time, I will try hard," he said today.
The 30-year-old star was speaking at a press conference where the first look of his upcoming film 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' was launched.
Anurag Basu-directed 'Barfi' is a love story between a hearing and speech impaired boy (played by Ranbir) and an autistic girl (played by Priyanka Chopra). It was India's official entry to the Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
Ranbir's performance won him the Best Actor at almost all other film award functions but it failed to impress the jury of the national awards.
"I am happy that Irrfan Khan won the Best Actor national award (for 'Paan Singh Tomar'). I had shared the (best actor) award with him in one of the other functions. I will work hard...do better job...I will try harder next time (for national award)," he said.
