BANGA.LORE: The unexpected downpour on Monday night played havoc in the city.Water-logged roads and uprooted trees distracted road users.Since Monday night, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) control room was flooded with calls from people who had quite a lot of complaints.“We have received more than 20 calls since morning,” said one of the staff members at the BBMP control room.At least 10 trees were uprooted in Rajajinagar, Vijaynagar, BEL Road, Domlur, Indiranagar and Seshadripuram.Most of these trees were uprooted on Monday night.But fortunately, severe traffic jams were not reported, as most of the trees fell late in the night.A tree damaged a car that was parked on the main road in Saanegoravanahalli.The rain also knocked down electric poles in the city.On Kumara Park road in Seshadripuram, two electric poles fell.But no damages were reported.“It will be good if people can walk at a distance from these electric poles,” an official warned.The rain on Monday night also brought along with it water logging in many parts of the city.“Many houses in Domlur second stage were flooded with drain water and the residents were awake the entire night,” an official informed.Get ready to face more such showers in the next couple of days.According to the officials from Bangalore Meteorological department, there was 57.7 mm rainfall on Monday night.“It is expected to continue for the next two days.Thunderstorm with rain is expected,” an official said.
