HUBLI: Dharwad MP Prahlad Joshi informed that Union Minister of Railways Dinesh Trivedi will hold a meeting with Karnataka Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda in Bangalore on September 20 to discuss various railway infrastructure and service projects pending in the state.According to a release, Trivedi informed Joshi and Uttara Kannada MP Anantkumar Hegde during their recent meet in Delhi that the Bangalore meeting will be attended by Union Minister of State for Railways KH Muniyappa and all MPs from Karnataka.Taking up the long awaited Hubli-Ankola railway line project also came up for discussion at the Joshi and Hegde meeting with the minister. Trivedi told the duo that environment related issues of the project would be discussed with Union Minister of Environment and Forests. Since the project was caught in a legal tangle, a final decision would be taken considering all the related aspects, he promised. The MPs demanded creation of Hubli-Bangalore or Belgaum-Bangalore corridor and insisted on new lines between Hubli-Dandeli and Tumkur-Davangere. Since the state is ready to share half the cost of any railway project taken up in the state, the Centre should realise these demands, they said.
