Party supremo Jayalalithaa, who was campaigning in Pondicherry announced that actor Anandraj would be the party candidate for the constituency and sought people's support for his victory.
The group supporting Nehru became violent at the announcement of change of candidates and they damaged the party flags and placards, prompting police to conduct a lathicharge.
