BANGALORE: The Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) has proved to be a failure in the state. It is ironic that months ago it was hailed as a Numero Uno project across the states. Despite the public hearing that took place in last December, the sorry situation of the Aganwadis in the state continues. Since, no action has been taken till date on the ICDS scheme, the Grama Panchayat Hakkottaya Andolana launched a statewide campaign on Tuesday across the districts of the state to protest against the poor quality of food distributed at Anganwadis. The Andolana will also be campaigning to reclaim the right of the Panchayats, to implement the Anganwadi program, with local social monitoring in accordance with the 73rd Amendment of the Indian constitution. The protest in Bangalore will be held on Wednesday at the Hari Colony next to Banashankari Temple and food will be served for their children.
