Radiologist Sri Harsha Reddy’s close relatives were behind his abduction.
Property disputes between Harsha’s father Lakshma Reddy and his relatives was the main motive.
After rescuing him from the Musunuru- Nuzvid area near Vijayawada late on Thursday night, a special team apprehended a few suspects in connection with Harsha’s kidnap. The suspects were questioned for more than two hours with the Vijayawada police’s help.
During interrogation, the accused, who are still in police custody, reportedly confessed that the victim’s close relative Srinivas Reddy and three others had come to the city on Sunday and had spoken to Harsha over the phone.
He was asked to meet them on Monday.
When Harsha agreed to meet them, Srinivas Reddy and the other three rushed to Yashoda Hospital in Malakpet and received him.
Stating that they would sit in a dabha on national highway 9, they took him in their four -wheeler. After the vehicle crossed from Ramoji Film City, they got down the vehicle and beat him up for his father’s faliure to transfer the property, located at Nunna near Vijayawada, in their name.
They resumed their journey and travelled towards Nalgonda.
As the vehicle reached Suryapet, the accused took Harsha’s mobile phone, removed the SIM card and threw it enroute out.
“The accused shifted Harsha to a dilapidated house near Musunur. Based on the information provided by the victim’s father, police tracked the call of the accused and located the place. When the police contacted some of the accused by calling their phones, they abandoned Harsha on the Musunuru- Nuzvid road and fled,” a police officer said.
