PUDUCHERRY: Union Minister V Narayanasamy has urged Lieutenant Governor Iqbal Singh to probe the appointment of staff in the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute by the Rangasamy-led government.Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, he urged the Lieutenant Governor to appoint a panel to probe the “back door” appointment of 180 staff from the Kadirgamam constituency. He charged that the government had shown vendetta by retrenching over 5,400 employees appointed by the previous Congress-led government, citing a funds crunch. “Where did the government get the money for these appointments now?” asked the Minister. These workers were being paid, although they do not turn up for work, he alleged, adding they would remind the officials that they belong to Kadirgamam, when questioned about their absence.Further, he claimed that a majority of staff in the Pondicherry Co-Operative bank were also from Kadirgamam, from where CM Rangasamy was elected.
