Former highest paid actress Julia Roberts takes a shot at Broadway in Richard Greenberg's Three Days of Rain.

New York:After conquering Hollywood with power-packed performances and the million-dollar smile the former highest paid actress Julia Roberts takes a shot at Broadway in Richard Greenberg's Three Days of Rain.

For Roberts it’s time for twins, first being mom to her twins, now she gives twin performances in her Broadway debut. Three Days of Rain which opened on Wednesday, drew a great crowd on it’s first day. Apart from all of the media, celebrities like Susan Sarandon and Oprah Winfrey were all there cheering for the actress.

In act one, Roberts plays Nan, a bland and boring daughter and later plays Nan's mother, a woman dealing with alcoholism and rage.

The Oscar-winner who is earning a mere fraction of her normal fee as a film actress, feels she's quite up for the live show challenge. "It was just a great opportunity and I was up for the challenge and it's a beautiful play with a great director and these guys are fantastic and it just all came together perfectly," said an excited Roberts.

In spite of opening to a luke-warm critical response on day one, industry insiders are all praise for her. “Julia didn't come here to get reviewed. She's had the Oscar. She came here because she felt like doing this,” Inside the Actors Studio host James Lapine said.

The show has already recoded 90% sold-out for its 12-week run and has already grossed more than $2 million dollars in ticket sales.
