ALAPPUZHA: The Ambalappuzha Judicial Magistrate Court on Monday allowed mv Prabhu Daya, which was involved in the hit-and-run case off Alappuzha, to sail out of Chennai coast after submitting a guarantee of `5 crore and presenting two solvent sureties for a sum of `5 lakh each. Magistrate V Udayakumar allowed the owner of mv Prabhu Daya, Tolani Shipping Company, to take the ship out of Chennai coast. Earlier, in a petition filed by Dominic Antony, the owner of Don 1 which was destroyed in the hit-and-run, the Madras High Court had ordered that the ship should not be shifted from the Chennai coast. The Ambalappuzha court asked the investigating officers to submit the details of the incident and produce the photographs of the marks that appeared in the ship which hit the boat off Alappuzha coast on March 1. The owners of the ship will produce the details in the court immediately. The court also directed that the ship should be brought back any time. Meanwhile, Alappuzha Principal Sessions Court postponed the hearing of the bail applications of Prasobh Sugathan and Mayur Virendra Kumar, the first and the second accused respectively in the hit-and-run case, to Tuesday. The court had granted bail to Gordon Charles Pereira, the captain of the ship, last week. Advocates B Raman Pillai, Sunil Maheswaran Pillai and Sujesh Menon appeared before the court for the shipping company.
