BANGALORE: After creating a storm in Uttar Pradesh over alleged injustice to farmers by the BSP government headed by Mayawati, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi is all set to repeat his feat in Karnatka, as he is likely to visit Mundargi in Gadag district, in order to express solidarity with farmers who are opposing acquisition of their land for the Posco steel company project.
Congress sources told Express that the ruling party's prince, who is going around the country in an effort to familiarise himself with the aam aadmi as well as the party cadre, is expected to visit the state in the last week of this month to take stock of the situation arising out of the BJP government's decision to acquire farmers' land for the industrial project. "We have briefed Gandhi in all aspects of land acquisition, including the objection raised by the farmers. We want the struggle by the farmers to get further solidified which, in turn, could make the BJP government find itself in a vulnerable situation. It is at that time that Rahul Gandhi would visit the state which is going to have its own impact," a top Congress leader added.
