MALAPPURAM: At least two people, including a civil police officer, were injured when a 50-member mob attacked the Changaramkulam police station here on Thursday night. Police arrested a youth in connection with the attack.Armed with lethal weapons, the mob pelted stones at the station and demanded release of Haris, 28, of Valayankulam, who was arrested in connection with a clash between two groups during a temple festival near here. There were around five officials on duty and Gireesh Kumar, 35, an officer was injured.Police held Shameer, 24, who also suffered injuries. The mob was dispersed after an official pointed service pistol towards them. A police vehicle was damaged in the attack.Police have registered a case. “There is no political or communal enmity behind the incident,” police said.Two groups of people at Valayankulam were embroiled in a quarrel during the temple festival and Haris was arrested in connection with the incident.
