Manmohan Singh, however, agreed that there are problems in the relations between India and China.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh downplayed the China threat while taking part in a discussion on Sino-India ties in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Singh agreed that there were some problems in the relations between India and China, but also added that overall there was peace at the border.

"I reject the view that China is preparing to attack India. I agree that there are problems on India's border with China border but overall there is peace in the area. I do not share the view that China has diverted Brahmaputra water. India and China are share very sensitive relations," Singh said.

"India and China are good friends. There are some confusions over the borders issue but they are solved there itself," he said.

The Prime Minister made the statement while replying to Samajwadi Party chief and Lok Sabha MP Mulayam Singh Yadav who accused the Government of not doing enough to counter China's aggressive stance.

"Why is he Government quite on reports of aggressive movement of China on the border. I understand China has entered upto 1.5 km area into Indian territory in Kashmir on the Sino-India border. What is the Prime Minister doing on this?" asked Mulayam.
