In a major crackdown, the Delhi police has busted a racket dealing in supply of pirated CDs in the Capital.

New Delhi: In a major crackdown, the Delhi police has busted a racket dealing in supply of pirated CDs in the Capital with the seizure of pirated VCDs and DVDs of latest films, like Dhoom 2 and Vivah from the Sarai Kale Khan area of South Delhi.

In all, 2655 pirated MPs, VCD and DVDs of films like Gangster, Jaanemann, Fanaa, Apna Sapna Money Money, Naksha and many others were recovered from one Ganesh Chaudhry, who supplied these CDs from his residence.

The arrest came following a raid at Ganesh's house in Sarai Kale Khan, after Suresh Nagar, an authorised representative of the Indian music industry, complained that some persons in South Delhi were undertaking illegal business of manufacturing, distributing and selling audio cassettes and VCDs/DVDs.

He was arrested on his identification by Suresh and CDs worth lakh recovered from his residence, police said.

The mandatory requirement as envisaged under provisions of the Copyright Act i.e, the name and address of producer, name of copyright holder, censor certificate etc, were found missing on the recovered CDs.

Investigation was on to find the source of the pirated CDs. More arrests were likely in this connection.
