New Delhi: Directed by Amrit Sagar, the film 1971 is a Studio 18 venture starring Manoj Bajpai, Ravi Kissen, Deepak Dobriyal , Kumud Mishra, Chitaranjan Giri and Manav Kaul.
The story is set six years after the 1971 Indo-Pak war that culminated in the creation of Bangladesh.
Despite winning the war, a lot of Indian defense personnel found themselves held captive in various jails in Pakistan and are still coming to terms with the fact that the Pakistan government has denied their very existence.
As per the international law, the arrested Indian soldiers were to be sent back to their homeland, but it never happened
Therefore, the six soldiers in the film plan to escape from Pakistan and return to India. But their biggest challenge is to dodge the intelligence and the security forces who are keeping a watch on them all the time.
Manoj Bajpai plays the role of Major Suraj Singh, Ravi Kissen plays Captain Jacob, Chitaranjan Giri is Subedar Ahmed in the film, Kumud Mishro plays Captain Kabir, Manav Kaul and Deepak Dobriyal play Flight Lt. Ram and Flight Lt. Gurtu respectively.
This film is Ravi Kissen’s first Hindi film after his successful stint on Sony's reality show Bigg Boss.
