CHENNAI: The increasing number of phishing mails flying across promising jobs against security deposits has now sent most of the multi-national companies in a tizzy. The latest to join the bandwagon is Hyundai Motor India Limited. In a statement, the company has said that emails have been flying around with job offers being made purportedly by the company in exchange for a security deposit. Through the statement, the Hyundai Motor India Limited clarified that all its recruitments were done directly and that the company did not accept or seek any sort of deposit from potential candidates for any position in the company. The automobile major said that in the recent past, several emails were reported to have landed in the inboxes of people promising jobs at Hyundai Motor India Limited, if the prospective candidates paid up a certain sum as caution deposit. The modus operandi followed by these fraudsters is quite simple. They would ask the candidates to deposit a certain sum as of money as a partially refundable caution deposit in a bank to be eligible for the first round of selection. Following this, interviews would be conducted by them posing as company officials either over the telephone or through a face to face meeting. Those candidates ‘selected’ for the job would be notified through emails from Gmail or Hotmail.Hyundai Motor has asked all affected candidates to file a complaint with local police stations the moment they receive any email seeking caution deposits and promising them placement.
