London: Pakistan on Tuesday said they would oppose the move to allow players three appeals against decisions made by on-field umpires.
The new rule, which is up for ratification next week by the International Cricket Council, is expected to be applied on a trial basis at the Champions Trophy in India later this year.
As per the rule, players will be allowed to make three appeals per innings to the third umpire if they disagree with the decision of the on-field umpire.
"We are opposed to this proposal and we will put our point strongly to the ICC," Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan said.
"We conducted a survey of 35 of our players and umpires and 33 of them are opposed to this law. They feel it will undermine the spirit of the game and the umpire's authority," he was quoted as saying by BBC Sports.
Pakistan will also ask ICC to allow them to host six-day Tests during winter, when poor weather often forces early finishes to the day's play.
"The ICC rejected our earlier request but we have not given up and we think we might get a chance to go for bilateral arrangements," Shaharyar said.
"If the ICC does not allow six-day Tests nor floodlights then they must come up with a viable solution because this is a real problem for us in winter," he added.
