Pak honours Omkara, Khosla...
Khosla Ka Ghosla got the award for the best original screenplay at the Kara Film Festival in Karachi.

Karachi: Omkara, Bollywood's take on Othello, won the best adapted screenplay award at the Sixth Kara Film Festival at Karachi while Khosla Ka Ghosla, about a middle class family's run in with the land mafia, was adjudged the best original screenplay.

Indian entries attracted large audiences, but relatively minor awards.

Indian film Asspaas 1958 won the best documentary award carrying $1,000 as prize money, reported the Daily Times.

The festival that ended on Sunday witnessed a controversy over the reported denial of a visa to Omkara actor Saif Ali Khan. Other members of the star cast could not make it to the festival because of prior commitments.

Pakistan's Daani (by Khalid Ahmed and Faaroq Rind) won the award for the best telefilm at the closing ceremony.

The best live short film award was a tie between two films Tricko, a Czech Republic production, and the Spanish Avatar. Adjustment bagged the best animated short film award.

The awards for best editing and best cinematography went to Road to Guantanamo, about the treatment meted out to al-Qaeda fighters and the Taliban by US soldiers in their camp Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
