According to petitioners, R Velu of Kattuvendravalli in Krishnagiri and P Venkatesan of Maniambadi in Dharmapuri district, TANGEDCO recruited 4,000 persons for the post of helpers in 2009 through the employment exchanges.The upper age limit fixed was 35 years for open category candidates, 37 for BC/MBC and 40 for SC/ST. The upper age limit was extended by five years as there was a ban on recruitment. It was, however, lifted by a GO dated February 7, 2006. In view of this, seniors in the employment exchanges alone got the opportunity for being considered and the petitioners’ names were not sponsored.
