One person died in Noida on Monday after a signboard fell on a bike and killed the pillion driver. More than 24 hours after the tragedy, the Noida police are yet to file a complaint
Shaken loose by a heavy thunderstorm, a hoarding of the Noida Authority fell on a car and a bike on Monday, killing the pillion passenger.
After a day, the police are yet to file a complaint as the police said they are waiting for the deceased's family to file a complaint.
Dinesh Yadav, Superintendent of Police (SP) said the car driver has filed a complaint and an FIR has been registered.
"We have not yet received any complaint from the deceased family or the other victim. An FIR will be registered as and when they give the complaint. An inquest has been initiated though", the SP added.
The Noida Authority has set up an inquiry panel, which will submit its report in a week.
City Magistrate Bachchu Singh said that an inquiry has been initiated. "A letter has been written to the concerned authority to initiate inquiry and find how this incident took place. The letter also asks the authority to inspect all the other hoardings in the city", he added.
However, the victim's family are not satisfied with the response of the authorities.
"We are not satisfied with the way police and Noida authority are working in this case", a family member said.
