No Loss of Popularity, Willing to Fight an Election on the Issue: Goyal
With the ongoing demonetisation crisis across India, the government has extended the use of old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes till November 14.

Banks and ATMs witnessed long queues for the third day on Saturday as cash and patience ran out among people who started lining up since 4am in the hopes of exchanging their demonetised notes.

The government, however, stood firmly behind its decision to phase out Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, hitting out at Opposition demand of an “immediate rollback”.

PM Narendra Modi, who is on a tour of Japan, hinted at even more measures to weed out black money from the economy while Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said it may take two to three weeks to recalibrate 2,00,000 ATMs according to the new Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 notes.
