HYDERABAD: National Institute of Fashion Technology is conducting a oneday workshop for artisans and weavers on February 29 at the NIFT campus.The main aim of the workshop is to check the status of Ikkat saree and home furnishings cluster of Puttapaka and surrounding villages in Nalgonda district, cotton durries cluster in Warangal district and Kondapalli toys cluster and identify areas of intervention in these clusters.Around forty weavers and artisans from these clusters are expected to attend the workshop.The faculty and students of NIFT will interact with them and help make contributions in design development, product diversification, skill up gradation, market trends, so that the artisans can fetch a sustainable income in the long run, thus helping in the sustenance of traditional handicrafts and handlooms.
