Three main universities of the city, Lucknow University, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University and Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University still do not have National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation. The UGC made it mandatory for all higher educational institutions which have completed six years of existence or had two batches pass out to apply for accreditation within six month from the date of coming into force. However, these main colleges have not yet done so. According to the university authorities, they said that the process will start shortly.
Lucknow: Second phase of laptop distribution on 27 July
About 19,183 gadgets will be distributed among the students in the second phase of the free laptop scheme on 27 July. The principals of respective educational institutes will distribute the laptops to the students. The list of beneficiaries has been given to the schools. The beneficiaries have been asked to collect their identity cards from the office of the Dean Students’ Welfare between 23 to 25 July.
Varanasi: BHU counseling begins
The Benaras Hindu University (BHU) has begun their counseling and admission process. Enrollment of students at Mahila Mahavidyalay has been done in the first phase of the counseling. Other institutes have also declared their dates of counseling and students are being listed according to merit. Counseling of arts department will begin on 24 July and will continue till 7 August. DAV College will begin its counseling from 12 August.
Aligarh: IGNOU extends last day of form submission till 31 July
The final date of submission for the forms of graduation, post graduation and diploma courses of IGNOU has been extended till 31 July. The forms cost Rs 500. The information has been provided by the regional director of IGNOU. The students can apply at the institution located at the Meris Road.
Lucknow: Amity students continue to protest
The protest by the Amity University students continue for the 15th day. The students who failed in their engineering and law courses are protesting against the university administration alleging that they were deliberately not being promoted. The students, all debarred with a year back alleged that the administration had followed different promotion criteria for different students. However, the authorities have denied of any such accusation.
Allahabad: Students protest against changes in reservation system of UPSC
Students appearing for the Public Service Commission examination protested against the changes in the reservation system on Monday. The students got violent during their protest from Hindu hostel to Salori and rampaged the area. Some students even vandalized few shops and vehicles. When the police attempted to stop the students they were attacked by bricks and stones. The police have arrested 14 students in this case.
Jaunpur: Question pattern altered, students create ruckus at college
The students created a ruckus at the T D College during their third paper of B.Ed examination. According to the students the question paper had many errors and the pattern was altered that created confusion among the students. The situation was then managed by the teachers and the examination continued.
