New lease of life for partially paralysed

The Sutharya Keralam initiative of the Chief Minister has brought in light to an ailing family of Muvattapuzha.

Thachukunnel Roy, who is partially paralysed for the last 4 years, will be handed over the financial aid from the government on Friday.

Excise Minister K Babu will hand over the money to the family at aprogramme to be held at the Collectorate. The family will be given an immediate fund of `25,000, the officials said. The Chief Minister hasalso ordered lifelong pension to Roy and his wife as part of the Social Welfare Department’s scheme.

They will be given a monthly sum from the Karunya Welfare Fund.

The CM has also promised a sum of `8,000 to Roy for building hand rails at his home. Roy was a daily wage earner who fell from a tree four years ago. His wife is the only earning member who has to lead the family consisting of three daughters.
